La chirurgie ouverte de décompression du tunnel carpien

Avant l’intervention
Le processus commence par une évaluation médicale approfondie visant à confirmer le diagnostic de syndrome du canal carpien. Cette étape peut inclure un examen clinique et un test EMG pour mesurer l’activité nerveuse. Pendant cette période, des traitements conservateurs tels que le port d’une attelle, des anti-inflammatoires et la physiothérapie peuvent être recommandés pour tenter de soulager les symptômes. Ces essais permettent de déterminer si une intervention chirurgicale est nécessaire.

Pendant l’intervention
La libération du canal carpien est une procédure rapide et sécuritaire réalisée sous anesthésie locale grâce à la technique WALANT (Wide-Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet). Cette méthode innovante offre un confort optimal en éliminant la nécessité d’une sédation ou d’un brassard de pression. Pendant l’opération, le chirurgien crée plus d’espace dans le canal carpien en sectionnant le ligament situé au-dessus du nerf médian, ce qui restaure la circulation et réduit la compression nerveuse.

Conseil postopératoire pour la chirurgie du tunnel carpien

Retour à la maison :

Présence de douleur ? Il est probable que vous souffrez d’un inconfort /douleur au niveau de votre main. L’inconfort devrait se dissiper à l’intérieur de 2 à 3 jours. Au besoin, prendre les analgésiques prescrits par le professionnel. Les médicaments contre la douleur peuvent occasionner de la constipation. Augmentez votre apport liquidien de fruits, de légumes et de céréales à grains entiers. Les ecchymoses sont normales et disparaitront au bout de 2-3 semaines. Les engourdissements vont diminuer de jour en jour après votre opération.

Soins du pansement :

Un pansement couvera votre plaie. Gardez le pansement sec pour les 3 premiers jours à la suite de votre opération. Le changement de pansement devra être fait au 4ᵉ jour de convalescence : Enlevez votre pansement avant de prendre votre douche. Bien assécher la cicatrice après votre douche. Mettre le nouveau pansement. Ne pas prendre de douche les 3 premiers jours, prendre un bain et utiliser une débarbouillette pour le haut du corps.

Médicaments :

Ne pas prendre de médicament qui contient de l’aspirine ou anti-inflammatoire non stéroïdien (Advil, ibuprofène) à moins d’une consigne contraire par le professionnel.

Dr. Maxime Gaudreault is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon recognized for his rigorous, patient-centered approach. A graduate of the Université de Montréal Faculty of Medicine, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the same institution before beginning his practice in sports surgery, arthroplasty, and trauma at the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de la Montérégie-Ouest.

Committed to comprehensive and integrated care, Dr. Gaudreault also completed ultrasound-guided injection training offered by physiatrists at the Institut de physiatrie. Conducted in a clinical setting at Hôpital Notre-Dame, this training allows him to provide precise treatments for musculoskeletal conditions, particularly joint, tendon, or inflammatory pain.

With years of experience in both hospital and private clinic settings, Dr. Gaudreault offers full expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of musculoskeletal disorders, including sports injuries, joint disorders, complex fractures, and joint replacement surgeries.

In his private practice, he focuses on accessibility, high-quality care, and building trust with his patients. He works closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure fast, personalized, and optimal care.

Dr. Mina Morcos

Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Morcos is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex hip and knee replacement surgery. A graduate of Université Laval Faculty of Medicine, he completed his orthopedic training at McGill University, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Experimental Sciences. He subsequently pursued advanced postdoctoral training, including a prestigious fellowship at Western University, followed by two additional fellowships at the University of Toronto: one in complex adult hip and knee reconstruction, and the other in trauma surgery.

An academic orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Morcos is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Université de Montréal. His clinical interests include enhanced recovery, minimally invasive, and robotic surgery. His expertise encompasses total hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and patellofemoral joint replacement. He offers private consultations and surgical interventions in Montreal, accessible to patients from Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
