New – Psychotherapy Service
In our ongoing commitment to meeting family needs, Praxis welcomes a new sexologist and psychotherapy intern, Ms. Jessy Paul-Hus, to our team. Whether for individual or family sessions, our professional will provide excellent support.
A professional at your service

Ms. Jessy Paul-Hus holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in sexology. A member of the Professional Order of Sexologists of Quebec (OPSQ), she has completed her psychotherapy training and is finishing her clinical supervision to obtain her psychotherapist license issued by the Order of Psychologists of Quebec (OPQ). Her services are reimbursed by most insurance companies.
Finding solutions through psychotherapy
In her practice, Ms. Paul-Hus primarily favors humanistic and systemic approaches, offering bilingual (French and English) individual therapy services to individuals aged 14 and older, as well as to couples and families. Throughout her career, she has gained extensive knowledge of issues related to interpersonal relationships and mental health (e.g., depression, anxiety, suicide prevention). With her multidisciplinary training, she considers the person as a whole and takes into account the different areas of their life.
An approach tailored to your needs
Therapy aims to create an authentic connection between the therapist and her clients, gently addressing the unique reality experienced by each person. Ms. Paul-Hus views therapy as a compassionate and welcoming space where listening, empathy, and non-judgment establish the bond that serves as a working tool. Respecting each person’s pace and needs is central to her practice, allowing everyone to feel free to discuss the reasons that brought them to therapy. She focuses on her clients’ individual strengths and potential to support them in their search for balance and well-being. The initial sessions are used to clarify the reasons for consultation, explore the history of difficulties experienced, and examine the dynamics in which they evolved. Goals are then set to guide the therapeutic work.
Individual therapy
Certain pivotal moments in our lives can bring challenges, and sometimes certain situations repeat themselves with unclear reasons behind them. This can affect social, family, and/or professional functioning, causing distress. In individual therapy, Ms. Paul-Hus offers a neutral and external perspective on her clients’ experiences and guides them toward achieving their own goals. She firmly believes that it is never too late to heal old wounds, regain inner well-being, and learn to love life again.
Reasons for consultation:
- Emotional, relational, or romantic difficulties;
- Grief following the death of a loved one, a separation, an accident, or illness;
- Anxiety related to lockdown or reopening;
- Desire to experience fulfilling sexuality at any stage of life;
- Adjustment to retirement;
- Loneliness and isolation;
- Feelings of guilt.
Couples therapy
Couples therapy provides a space for partners to openly express their dissatisfactions and disappointments within their relationship, while also acknowledging each other’s strengths. This helps identify deadlocks, expectations, and desired changes. It is also an opportunity to separate their marital life from their family life and improve communication within the relationship. For some, the process helps rediscover the joy of being together; for others, it provides support in making difficult decisions. Please note that both partners must be present from the very first session to establish individual goals and motivations. Later in therapy, individual sessions may be suggested.
Reasons for consultation:
- Challenges faced by intercultural couples;
- Issues related to fertility, pregnancy, perinatal care, and adoption;
- Challenges regarding child-rearing;
- Job loss;
- Dissatisfactions within the relationship.
Family therapy
Family therapy is designed for families in all their diversity. Within a family, one or more members may experience difficulties that disrupt the family balance. Systemic therapy emphasizes that it is by working together that families can grow and achieve lasting, profound changes. Family therapy is a process of change for each family member, aiming to help everyone regain confidence in the future and rediscover the joy of being together.
Reasons for consultation:
- Adjustment to blended families;
- Placement of an elderly parent;
- Family challenges when a child has special needs;
- Sibling conflicts;
- Behavioral problems;
- Suicide prevention;
- Addiction issues.
